Michelle earned a B.A. in Religion from Barnard College and an M.P.A. from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. She is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy. Michelle loves card and board games, with a particular passion for Scrabble and Rumikub. She passed her enthusiasm for games on to her son, who is a two-time national chess champion. Michelle spends her free time traveling the world (most recently South Africa, Uruguay, Greece, and Georgia) as a committed chess mom with her husband and son. When she's back in New York, Michelle draws inspiration from the countless high school students she feels privileged to teach, seeks out unusual culinary experiences, and plots her next adventure to distant lands.
