Noah has a B.A. in Art History from Oberlin College and a Ph.D. in Architectural and Urban History from the City University of New York Graduate Center. He currently teaches at Columbia University in the Urban Design Program and has a joint appointment at Columbia’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights. A classically trained violinist, he spent several years prior to graduate school as a professional rock musician and still finds time to play violin, guitar, mandolin, and drums. He has served as the president of the Marshall Chess Club in New York City and dedicates any additional hours to being a devoted chess dad and to an avid pursuit of enhancing his culinary skills.
