Yissel earned her B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Informatics Sciences in Cuba, followed by a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at Universidad de Oriente and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven. With extensive experience as a lecturer at the University of Calabria and Universidad de Oriente, she has taught subjects ranging from software engineering and machine learning to biomedical signal processing. Yissel is passionate about guiding students to develop analytical skills and creative problem-solving approaches. She enjoys working with students to achieve "aha" moments, whether in statistical analysis or algorithm design. When she’s not researching or teaching, Yissel enjoys reading, watching anime, and strategizing over a good board game.
